Ingredients
  

  • 250 g 1/2 lb mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder optional
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
  2. Grate the lemon zest and set it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Dredge each mushroom slice in the flour mixture, coating it evenly.
  5. Fry mushrooms in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Sprinkle lemon zest over the mushrooms for a burst of citrus flavor.
  8. Serve hot as a snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free versions.
  • You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour for an extra kick.
